Two of the common food sold at street markets and around churches during the Christmas season the Philippines are Puto-bumbong and Bibingka. More likely sold outside churches before, during, and after the Misa de Gallo (translated as midnight mass or rooster's mass).
Puto-bumbong is made from distinct purple colored glutenous rice cooked in as narrow bamboo tube by steam. This is often served with margarine or butter, grated coconut, sugar or muscovado, and sometimes with toasted sesame seeds.
