What inspired you to launch your own website?
I, as the administrator for RoryDory's, retired from my Career. I had been blessed with my second child, late in life, and with a career relocation-this wonderful second child was struggling with daycare issues. I had worked most of my adult life, career or within the family business, and found myself missing the interaction with customers. Not just the "Hello & Thank You", but the more personal interactions "How are you? How is your family-any news? What room are you decorating for today? Who is this gift for-maybe I can help". Thus, with much pleading and begging,I entered the world of e-shopping.
What was your first website?
I started a small website with a well known auction site. The Internet seemed like a completely different world compared to a brick and mortar store. But, I was still missing the interaction with customers. I am grateful for this small website, it taught me the basic skills needed to go back and plead and beg again for our own website.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Since this is my "baby" so to speak, I named it after my second child.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
We are not completely different from other websites, our website is safe & secure, fast & safe shipping, sell Worldwide, returns are accepted and we take most forms of payment. But, what is different, is that it was brought to life by the "Customer Service" department and not through the "Sales" department. If a customer is looking for a more personal touch or where their satisfaction comes first-then RoryDory's is perfect for them.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is to maintain RoryDory's and have it grow into a large family. I want to help people, whether it is by a decorating tip or by providing a quality product that someone can actually afford to buy.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Very rewarding, there is nothing better than having someone tell you how happy you made them. Or becoming a part of someone's family special occasion by merely gift wrapping at n/c their special gift.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Well even though I have worked on a computer most of my adult life-I found that I have quite a bit more to learn. I can not achieve my goal of helping others without obtaining all the Internet knowledge I can.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth, referrals and advertising.
